Welcome to our Children's Hospital - video transcript
Evelina London is a specialist children's hospital.
We provide life-changing care for children, youngpeople and their families. We have expert teams, equipment and facilities dedicated to our 30 different areas of medicine, available24 hours a day.
Children and their families come to us from London, all over South East England, and beyond and they tell us we don't feel like a hospital, we feel like family.

Children helped design our hospital, it's bright and friendly and has plenty of placesto play.
We have 281 beds, seven operating theatres and overnight spaces for parents.
Our uniquelocation alongside St Thomas' hospital means we can care for children and families from before birth to adulthood all in one place.
Our staff are experts in what they do and care for our families as if they were theirown.
Our specialist services start with the largest neonatal unit in London, which cares for over a thousand babiesa year, right next to our maternity ward.
As well as our busy children's emergency department, we have a special ambulance service so our intensive care team can collect very unwell children from other hospitals and bring them to us for highly specialist care.
From hearts to hearing, from sleep to skin, from bones to brains and more, we provide more than a hundred thousand outpatient appointments a year.
We have the most advanced technology to safely see inside the body in colourful detail and plan the right treatments.
We have 90 experts working on more than 200 research studies.
Our research is world-leading and we have dedicated state-of-the-art facilities for that to happen, but we're not stopping there.
We have exciting plans to grow our hospital so we can care for even more of the sickest children and young people, who need our specialist care now and in the future.

Evelina London Children's services are part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
Our comprehensive health services care for children from before birth, throughout childhood and into adult life.
We provide hospital care and treatment at both our purpose-built children’s hospital on the St Thomas’ Hospital site and at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals. We care for families in our local areas and provide an extensive range of specialist services for children with rare and complex conditions from across south London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
Our community services care for children and families in Lambeth and Southwark.
Our vision is to be a world leading centre of life-changing care for children, young people and their families.

Working in the community
Our community services across the boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark provide comprehensivehealthcare from health visitors and school nurses to specialist input to prevent children with long-term health conditions needing hospital care. We have two children's healthcentres and care for more than 38,000 children and young people in the communityevery year- that's a third of all children and young people in Lambeth and Southwark.

We're building our specialist clinical network so that the 1.7 million children in London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex can benefit from our expert care.

Our dedicated Children's Hospital
Evelina London cares for 104,000 families a year. Our Children's Hospital isa stunning purpose-built building on the site of St Thomas', and includes:
- 215 inpatient beds, 30 intensive care beds
- 46-cot neonatal unit
- an emergency department
- 5 dedicated operating theatres, plus 1 cardiac theatre in St Thomas’
- a full children’s imaging service with MRI scanner, X-ray and ultrasound
- a kidney dialysis unit
- an outpatients department and a medical day care unit
- a hospital school
A hospital that doesn't feel like a hospital
With themed floors, a glass atrium, rooms with views, sunlight and fresh air, Evelina London Children's Hospital was designed around the needs of children and their families.
Inpatients are on the upper levels of the building, so children staying in hospital enjoy the best views. They also overlook the atrium, the social heart of the building, housing a gallery and performance space and the hospital school.

The building is themed around the natural world, from the sea at ground level to the sky at the top.It hasvisual symbols (see above) to make getting around easierand themed artwork on the floor of each level.
